Bialik's logo is open to interpretation.
Does it represent the Tree of Life or the Tree of Knowledge?
Does that matter as, in Judaism, Life and Knowledge are so intricately linked?
Either way, the Tree has 18 leaves - 18 being the gematria of chai (life) and, therefore, a very significant Jewish number.
The Tree rests on a Magen David (Star of David), depicting how the Trees of Life and Knowledge grow from the fundamentals of Jewish values.
Bialik's motto, Step Forth With Courage, is derived from a Chaim Nachman Bialik poem, Lamitnadvim Ba'am, which was written in 1900 in Odessa shortly after the second Zionist Congress. A poem full of pathos, Bialik makes an impassioned call to the younger generation to rebuild the Land of Israel.
