A Jewish community can have magnificent synagogues, but these alone will not secure that community's survival.  Jewish education, particularly through Jewish schools, will. Not by accident does our greatest prayer, the Shema, say:

  You shall teach these things diligently to your children.

From the days of Moses, Judaism predicated its existence on education, the handing on of our heritage from one generation to the next.  Today, more than 3000 years later, ours is the most ancient Western religion.  Yet it remains full of vigour.  Why? Because we have remembered that Jewish schools are our best investment in the future.  So long as we put the needs of our children first, Judaism will stay young. 

Bialik College invests in our community's future by ensuring it has an energetic teaching staff offering innovative, creative and sound educational programs. But Bialik understands that what happens in the classroom, while absolutely central and critical to the school's ongoing success, needs to be supported by other sound practices and services.

The principle aim of Bialik's Development Office, therefore, is to draw together all aspects of Bialik's activities which are related to but are not its core business (ie teaching). The prime functions Bialik's Development Office are two-fold:

•  to support the College's mission, master and strategic plans
•  to harness direct philanthropic support

Since Bialik's establishment, parents, grandparents, community leaders, alumni, staff and friends of Bialik College have demonstrated their generous support and commitment ot the mission and goals of the school, helping us grow form a tiny Sunday School in 1942 to our vibrant school of some 1030 students.

And, since our first VCE class of 8 graduates in 1990, and even before that, Bialik's alumni continue to achieve success in university, community and life. As in the case of most independent schools, Bialik's school fees are not sufficient to cover the costs of providing the level of education that our students experience.

The generous support of Bialik's families and friends in the past have created the magnificent facilities and programs Bialik's current generation of families enjoy. It will be your generous support, that or current families and friends, which will ensure that Bialik's next generation of families, will enjoy facilities and programs of equal if not better quality.
