All College parents are automatically members of the Parents' Association, the office-bearers of which are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association. Through its sub-committees, the Association organises regular cultural, social and fund-raising activities. These activities provide opportunities for parents to meet and to become involved with the school.
Funds raised by the Parents' Association are spent on a wide range of projects. These include the purchase of classroom equipment, library books, primary classroom aids, musical, sporting, audio- visual and play equipment, reading programs, prizes and the provision of everything from Chanukah dreidls to charoset for the College's model Pesach sedarim. Most recently, the Parents' Association has funded one of the basketball courts in the Gringlas Sports Centre and a number of electronic whiteboards for the Early Learning Centre.
Parents' Association meetings are held each school term to discuss the Association's program of activities. Notification of dates is given in the College's weekly Igeret K'tana publication. An Executive elected by the Association also meets regularly to discuss any issues raised by parents as well as to organise the various activities run by or involving the Association.
Traditional activities organised by the Parents' Association include a new families morning at the start of the school year, an annual luncheon with guest speaker, theatre and film nights, family activities, a golf tournament, a family camp, a fete, and a staff thank-you lunch at the end of the school year. The Parents' Association also runs a sausage sizzle on Purim, co-ordinates the food and set of of the model sedarim on Pesach, helps to serve felafel on Yom Ha'atzmaut, purchases ice cream and cheesecake for the school on Shavuot and donughts for Channukah.
There are many ways in which parents can become involved in College life, among them serving as class coordinators, assisting in the library or with preparations for the celebration of chaggim and other activities organised by the Parents' Association. The College's weekly Igeret K'tana publication has a Parents' Association page which contains information about and dates of the various Parents' Association activities.
