Over the past week, the College celebrated the arts during the annual Bialik Arts Festival (BAF). Centred on the theme of ‘Mystery’, a number of exciting and innovative events took place, which provided an opportunity for all students from Years 2 -12 to connect and explore this theme through arts practice.
The week commenced with a vibrant dance performance from the Year 4s and concluded with Bialik Rising Star at The National Theatre, St Kilda. Throughout the festival, students engaged with professional artists who introduced them to new skills.
Some of the festival highlights included the ‘Treasures from the Wreck’ art installation, Origami sessions for the Primary children and a spray-painted mural on the Drama Studio wall. ELC children brushed up on their Hip Hop skills and the Year 6s performed Shakespeare, Hip Hop style, through mask and song. The mystery of the Escape Room attracted a crowd and the Year 8s proved to be very industrious for their film festival. The senior students were treated to a live stand-up comedy session from popular industry professionals and the Bialik 2019 Musical, Seussical, was finally revealed.
