Thanks to the terrific efforts and foresight of the Head of Sports, Mick Wheeler, the BCPA are thrilled to have assisted in the purchase of an entire fleet of bicycles and related accessories for our students to learn to ride with!
We are looking forward to seeing some fabulous velodrome activities, watch out the Tour de France, here we come … among a host of other exciting events planned for 2020 for our Bialik families, students, parents and grandparents, there will be something on offer for everyone!
This week, the BCPA had the great pleasure of throwing the class winner’s party for Prep Gimmel who raised the most funds for the Bialik Walkathon. Great job to the ELC and to Prep Gimmel!
It was such a fun event and the children all had a ball! It was a proper team effort, Sunshine and Joseph were especially committed to the charity and fundraising for the school. Sunshine articulately explained all about the charity component Giant Steps to her peers and raised terrific awareness. Joseph took the campaign so seriously that his remarkable contribution to our school included in part his birthday money! You’re all champs, Prep Gimmel!!
Special thanks to teacher Roz for allowing us to come in and turn her classroom into party central. Thanks also to Deb and Nat at The Shuk for their amazing catering and to ELC BCPA Committee Rep Julia for the beautiful rainbow decorations.
On Friday 15 November, golfing legends united at 7.15 am for the official registration at The Cranbourne Golf Club for the start of the CVS Lane Bialik College Golf Day. The Year 4 and 5 Kitchen Program at the College had baked an assortment of muffins that golfers ate for breakfast, along with some snacks from Kez’s Kitchen, fruit from Fruitbox, and a much needed coffee from the famous Gary Peer Coffee Van.
The morning was opened by Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner’s first ever golf shot from the first tee – and he was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to connect with the big driver.
The 20 corporate groups made their way to their respective starting holes to commence play in weather that was 50mm and 10 degrees better than the 2018 Golf Day!
The 18 hole sponsors, lunch sponsor and major naming sponsors brought groups of talented golfers, along with some current parents, grandparents, teachers and friends of the school. Teams were not just playing for pride and nachas, but also for their chance to win some amazing prizes donated from some very generous companies from our wider community.
Golfers were encouraged to have their playing partner film their swing, with each participant receiving a free on-line golf lesson from Skillest. Many of the golfers were in desperate need for this service. Jeremy also had his swing analysed but unfortunately we can’t post the video due to all of our time constraints.
Congratulations to the following prize winners:
Winning Group: Fife Capital (Aaron Hillier, Stuart Ward, Marty Bourke, Matt Brown Greaves). Their names get etched into history on the honour board in the Bialik Sports Centre, on the trophy prize, and they each received an Antler Roller-bag.

The annual Bialik College Golf Day is back, this year being held on Friday 15 November 2019.
Last year’s winning team, Morgan Stanley, is returning to defend their title against a tough group of competitors including parents, teachers, students and sponsors.
Thank you to all our sponsors, prize donors and food suppliers who have helped to support Bialik and create a great day at Cranbourne Golf Club.
Earlier this week we had the pleasure of welcoming celebrated Professor Deborah Lipstadt to Bialik College for a conversation with Principal Jeremy about her new book ‘Antisemitism: Here and Now’. Professor Lipstadt is a Dorot Professor of Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University, and is most well known for defeating Holocaust denier David Irving in court.
Parents, grandparents and friends of Bialik packed our Theatrette for an intimate sell-out event.
Professor Lipstadt’s new book is available for purchase from Reception for $25.
A big thank you to the BCPA, in particular, Sally Robin who made this happen!
A special thank you to the BCPA on their generous sponsorship towards our Primary Bialik Bike Education Program. The school has purchased 8 Junior ‘Giant’ Bikes, 2 of which are 20” and 6 are 24”, in order to assist our Primary Students of varying ages and sizes, to be able to learn how to ride a bike.
For more information regarding this program, or to enquire about your child participating in the Bike ED Program, please email Angie Carson.
Some of the learning will take place during Sport lessons and a “Bike” Lunchtime Club will begin in the next few weeks.
On Friday 23 November, the 2018 annual Bialik College Golf Day was held at Cranbourne Golf Club, sponsored by CVS Lane for the second year in a row. As the participating golfers drove down the Monash, it felt like an ark would be a more appropriate form of transportation as the weather seemed to be trying to re-enact the great story of Noah. However, 86 golfers braved the elements to complete the 18 hole Ambrose competition. The inaugural best dressed award went to the dashing Phil “Professor Plum” Goldberg, and the smartest looking lady on the course – Brenda Dart. The rain took a momentary break as the golfers headed to their allotted hole and the siren sounded to begin the day. Some chose to play under umbrellas, others had the full wet weather gear, towels were used to dry slippery hands but despite the wind and rain the main priority was still trying to get some birdies. You could hear “woo-hoo’s” and high-fives around the course as long putts were sunk, and the GolfDay Pro live app meant that everyone knew where they were on the leaderboard until the final four holes, when the mystery set in. At the end of the round golfers gathered in the clubhouse to ring out their gatkas, have a few drinks, a BBQ lunch, and congratulate the following people on their prizes:
Winner: Morgan Stanley’s team (Antony Green, Michael Sfetkidis, Wesley Moore, Rodney Mackintosh) with a score of Net -18.500
Second: Escala Partner’s team (Mason Allamby, Stephen Collins, Pep Perry) with a score of Net -17.833
Last Place (Not A Golfers Toochas): Renaissance Team (Charles Akkerman, George Altman, Andrew Rogers, Jack Silver) with a score of Net -3.625
Longest Drive 0-15 Handicap: Andrew Whitaker (AssemblyNow team)
Longest Drive 16+ handicap: Stuart Ward (Fife Capital team)
Closest To The Pin Hole 3: Liam Brennan (Fife Capital team)
Closest To The Pin Hole 8: Wesley Moore (Morgan Stanley team)
Hole-In-One Comp: No-one!!!
A big thanks to all of our sponsors and players who helped make it a great day in trying conditions, but still better than a day in the office!!! Not only is this a fun event, but it remains one of the school’s best fundraisers for the year, helping to fund fees assistance for families struggling to afford the full fees.
Walking, running or dancing … however they made their way around the oval, students had a brilliant morning at last week’s Walkathon. There were even a few furry friends of the canine variety that joined in the fun – the four-legged kind and our favourite wolf mascot, Fang.
Thanks to all the parent volunteers and to the students for their incredible effort to raise funds for Bialik.
On Sunday 26 August, over 240 Prep to Year 5 students danced the afternoon away at the ELC/Primary Disco. Ethan Spiegel OC’16 was the DJ and taught the young party-goers some fun dance moves.
The Bialik College Parents’ Association is especially grateful to Rachel Jagoda for organising the 50 wonderful volunteers who gave so generously of their time to help make the Discos a huge success – well done and thank you!
The Father’s/Special Friend’s Day stall took place today where Year 2-5 students got to choose their own gifts for their special someone. Thanks so much to Romy and Nat for organising, as well as the wonderful volunteers who helped set up, man, assist the kids and clean up!
We hope the Dads enjoy their gift, which were chosen with love.
