We’re very proud of the Bialik Wolves swimming team, organised and led by Brooke R & Charlie B, helped Maccabi raise money for the MS Maccabi National Swimathon on Sunday 25 November. Yesterday a group of Year 7-9 travelled to Point Leo beach for the annual EISM surf carnival. They participated in surf lifesaving competition events, such as run/swim/run, Ironman relay, beach sprints and flag knockout sprint. During Term 4, a determined group of Years 3-7 students have been training for a Bialik intra-school Triathlon. With training starting at 7.10am on Tuesday and Thursday morning, the students were given the opportunity to increase their fitness whilst bike riding, running and swimming. On Sunday 11 November, 11 girls from Years 5-8 represented Bialik in the inaugural Multus Combined Event Championship. In teams of five and six, the girls competed in a range of athletic events, including 100m sprint, long jump, 800m, shot put and 4x100m relay. Kol ha’kavod Weizmann! The green team stole the show at this week’s Year 4 Swimming Carnival. The overall girls champion was Peri A, and for the boys, the title went to Ty J. Mazel tov to them for their record-setting swims: Ty J – 50m Butterfly 46.45, Peri A – 50m Backstroke 41.31, 50m Breastroke 48.32, 50m Butterfly 40.58.
The Year 5 Hot Shots Tennis team represented the College with distinction today in the Eastern Metropolitan Finals (last step before State Finals). The students not only acquitted themselves well on the court but demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout the day. It was a great effort by the team and valuable experience for 2019.
Kol ha’kavod to the Hotshots Boys Basketball Team for winning the Boroondara Division Championship. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams put in great effort on the day. The winning boys’ team now go on to the Eastern Metropolitan Division Final but unfortunately it falls in the middle of their school camp.
Bialik College had three representatives at the recent Division Athletics event at Bill Sewart Athletics track in Burwood. Jonty I, Lara Z and Ella W qualified for the event after excellent performances at the Kooyong District. Our students gave their all against strong opposition. On Thursday 13 September, the Bialik College Primary Athletics team participated in the Kooyong District Athletics carnival. In total 60 students from Years 3-6 acquitted themselves well against some high quality competition.
