Community Service

Bialik students drive participation in community service programsAll Bialik students are encouraged to participate in community life as proud and responsible citizens with an awareness of their community rights and obligations.

In line with Bialik’s philosophy of student-centred learning and student empowerment, social justice programmes are largely directed by the students themselves under the careful guidance of the inspirational Informal Jewish Education Team.

Bialik students are actively involved at community events and programs both within the Jewish and wider communities, such as “Youth At Risk” programs; Building Bridges Interfaith programs; fundraising for Neve Michael Children’s Village in Israel and regular visits to Jewish Care and Aged Care Facilities. Year 7 students engage in Tikkun Olam (Perfecting the World) as part of their Bnei Mitzvah program, and Years 8 and 9 students have similar opportunities to contribute in community facilities as part of the Etgar (Challenge) Program.

Bialik students also practise social responsibility with each other, such as when Year 10 students take on mentoring roles for their younger peers in the Primary and Middle Schools and the pairing of students during festival celebrations.
