All College parents are automatically members of the Parents’ Association, the office-bearers of which are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association. Through its sub-committees, the Association organises regular cultural, social, educational and fundraising activities providing opportunities for parents to meet and to become involved with the school – such as the New Families’ Morning at the start of each school year, an annual luncheon with a guest speaker, theatre and film nights, family activities, a golf tournament, family camp, and school féte.
Funds raised by the Parents’ Association are spent on a wide range of projects. These include the purchase of classroom equipment, library books, Primary classroom aids, musical, sporting, audio-visual and play equipment, reading programs and prizes. The Parents’ Association has also funded one of the basketball courts in the Gringlas Sports Centre and a number of electronic whiteboards.
Two class representatives are required for each class from Kinder to Year 7. Their role is to promote parent involvement in our school community and provide opportunities for parents to feel valued in the class and school community. They might organise to have a picnic/play date in a local park or a catch-up at a local coffee shop. An informal social gathering is a great way for parents to get to know each other and the children their child is friendly with. There are many possibilities!
How can you help?
Class Representatives are valued members of our school community and their time and commitment are very much appreciated. To get involved in the PA or volunteer as a class representatives, please email Hana Spiegel, Community Relations Coordinator at [email protected]
