A Deeper Look into Barista – Bialik ETGAR Term 2
Welcome back to term two of the Igeret Ktana!
Before we begin, here is a quick recap of what Etgar is all about:
Every term, students from Years 8 and 9 get to choose new electives from the many choices there are. Each elective can give you benefits for your future, and you get to have tons of fun while doing them. During the last two periods of every Friday, the Year 8s and 9s band together and take part in the elective that they have chosen.
Barista is one of the 16 elective choices that provide lots of fun and excitement on Friday afternoons. Guided by Sally Elliot, the students get to run their own café and learn the mastery of the coffee machine. Lots of fun and excitement is provided while making coffees, hot chocolates and snacks for the students and teachers. Students make products collaboratively throughout the elective. You can buy them in the kitchen, next to the Shuk. Barista is just one of many great work experience options that give students the confidence to apply for jobs in the future.
But you don’t need to feel guilty for spending your money there, because all of the profits made will be going to the Lighthouse Foundation. The Lighthouse Foundation is a fantastic charity that helps young, homeless people. So, if you are in the mood for a tasty treat on a Friday afternoon, head down to the Shuk to order from Fang’s Café!
Tune in next week, for information about another elective, see you then!
