Giving to Bialik

As a pluralistic Jewish Zionist community school, Bialik is dedicated to empowering students to achieve their potential and to contribute meaningfully to the Jewish, Australian and global communities.

When you give to Bialik College, you are investing in the future Jewish community and in the future of one of Australia’s most dynamic, innovative and engaged schools. From funding essential Fee Assistance Scholarships to supporting our outstanding programs and facilities, your donation gives a new generation of students the opportunity to receive an unparalleled education.

By giving, you unlock the potential of capable students, and you make a real difference in a very significant way:

  • A difference to an individual student who would otherwise not be able to afford a Jewish education
  • A difference to our community that benefits from children brought up to be involved in the Jewish and wider communities and to contribute their talents to the world
  • Even a difference to the world, which gets to experience the brilliance of a future artist, innovator, thinker or creator who was inspired at Bialik College.

No donation is too small – each gift is a powerful investment in Bialik College’s mission. Your philanthropy helps educate deserving students and strengthen their connection to their community and to Israel.

Message from Principal Jeremy

“The gift of a Jewish education sustains Jewish identity and continuity. For many, it is a life-changer to benefit from the outstanding all-round education offered at Bialik, but as importantly, it connects Jewish children with their peer groups, creating lifelong friendships and a feeling of belonging to the Jewish community at large. At a Jewish school, students celebrate and commemorate Jewish cycles and events together, they connect with each other and with Israel through a shared culture and history, and they’re free to express themselves as Jews in an environment that is inclusive and encompassing – you just don’t get that anywhere else. The gift of a Jewish education changes the lives of individuals and their families. We will work hard to ensure this gift continues into the future.”

Understanding Bialik’s Community

The demographic of Bialik families has changed significantly from the 1980s and 90s. Back then, the majority of Bialik students lived in suburbs bordering Hawthorn however this is no longer the case. Today the majority hail from Caulfield and Elsternwick, and Bentleigh and Brighton East are our biggest growth areas. Commensurate with this demographic move, and despite Bialik’s best efforts to contain fee increases, the cost of private schooling has become progressively more prohibitive for a greater proportion of Jewish families. This is reflected in the growth of students requiring fee assistance; from 18% in 2010 to 25% in 2018.
