Bialik & Maccabi Partnership Announcement

Bialik College is excited to announce a new community partnership with Maccabi Victoria and the launch of Maccabi Aquatics at Bialik which will commence operating in Term 4, 2021. Maccabi Aquatics at Bialik will be operated by Maccabi and based at the Bialik College Gringlas Sports Centre Pool.  It will offer a complete aquatics program including: Learn-to-Swim; Junior, Senior & Masters Squads; Water Aerobics; Fitness Squads; and All Abilities programs. The Maccabi Aquatics team will also work very closely with Bialik’s sports department in running its curriculum swimming, school swim squads and fitness, health & wellbeing aquatic programs at the College.

Maccabi Aquatics at Bialik is the next stage in a collaborative journey that will build on an already strong Maccabi-Bialik relationship through basketball as well as the Maccabi Victorian Carnival in January 2021. “We are so proud of our wonderful sporting facilities and are thrilled to see that through this unique partnership, our sporting facilities are being used for the benefit of our broader community” said College President Kate Beaconsfield.

Maccabi Aquatics at Bialik has been established as part of a long-term strategic partnership between Maccabi and Bialik and will operate solely for the benefit of the community. In the true spirit of a Not for Profit community partnership, all surplus funds earned will flow back into the community via the Maccabi Victoria and Bialik College Foundations.

Maccabi Aquatics at Bialik will also offer pathways for competitive swimming under the banner of the existing Maccabi Ajax Swimming Club which was one of the state’s premier clubs in the 1970’s & 80’s. By creating a home for Victorian Jewish Swimming at Bialik and an established competitive pathway, the aim is to reinvigorate Jewish swimming in Victoria to ensure a vibrant, growing and successful Maccabi Swimming Club well into the future.

The Bialik College community is extremely grateful to Swimming With Excellence for six years of excellent provision. The SWE team has been, and continues to be, a genuine and thoroughly professional partner in the provision of swimming at the College. The SWE program will operate up until the time that Maccabi Aquatics commences and we will work together to ensure a smooth transition.

We look forward to providing further details on this exciting new initiative closer to its commencement.
