On Friday May 17, the Year 5 area was buzzing with excitement for their Manhigut (Leadership) session with the neuroscientist, Jared Cooney Horvath.
The session was about the brain plasticity. Neuroplasticity, or brain plasticity, refers to the brain’s ability to change throughout life. The human brain has the amazing ability to reorganise itself by forming new connections between brain cells.
To demonstrate how this happens, Jared gave the students a fun task. In groups of three, the students took turns to catch a falling ruler and record the reaction time. The more practise students had, the better the results. The level of focus and speed increased and the results of the measurements improved as the brain trained and created a new pathway.
It was a mindblowing session for all!
