On Friday 8 November two Year 9 students travelled with Ms Gordon to the Wheeler Centre in the city to attend the Broadside Teen Day.
Broadside, a festival that ran from Friday to Sunday, is a series of feminist workshops with speakers such as Monica Lewinsky and Maya Angelou. The students attended a series of lectures, presentations and activities aimed to extend and challenge their knowledge about feminist issues. Eco-feminism, friendship and body image were all addressed.
Overall, the day was an enriching experience and the students had a greater understanding of how feminism is intertwined with other societal issues.
