It was a gorgeous, sunny Melbourne morning – just perfect for a fundraiser! On Thursday 15 November, the Bialik Foundation hosted a hugely enjoyable brunch, proudly sponsored by the Spotlight Foundation, with young entrepreneur and founder of the charity Little Dreamers organisation, Maddy Buchner, as the guest speaker.
It was a lovely event, with an abundance of food, drinks, laughter and two worthwhile causes to contribute to: the Bialik Fee Assistance Fund and Little Dreamers.
Maddy’s speech was enlightening and moving. She explained how she started Little Dreamers because there was a huge need in the community for a system that looks after young people who care for family members who are sick or have a disability. She explained that, ‘Little Dreamers is Australia’s leading Young Carer support organisation. We work tirelessly every day to ensure that young people growing up with caring responsibilities also have access to the childhood that every child deserves. We have a team of six fierce and powerful women working to defend human rights and care for our young carers. Little Dreamers now, nearly 10 years since launch, supports 4,000 young carers per year across a range of direct support programs, advocacy and policy change. I am incredibly proud of the work that we do, the organisation that Little Dreamers has become and the change that we are making.’
After the event, guests went home with gift bags – our new Bialik eco-friendly shopping bags – which were filled with goodies from our amazing gift sponsors, Kez’s Kitchen, Tabrobane Tea Company, Slim Secrets and Wicked Sister.
Thanks to everyone who made the Foundation Brunch a big success and especially to the Spotlight Foundation for being the major sponsor of the event.
