This year’s Bnei Mitzvah theme is Tikvateinu – Our Hope. Hope is a fundamental quality to Judaism, arguably its defining feature, according to former Chief Rabbi of the Commonwealth, Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. As an introduction to the theme, Year 7s participated in small group chevruta sessions exploring the meaning of the word hope, models of hope in the lives of committed people, and a text study from Torah on the role of hope. All Year 7 students will write a short speech related to the theme of Tikvateinu to be delivered at the Bnei ceremonies later in the year.
