Things took a dramatic turn last Thursday when the VCE Drama Unit 1 Solo Performances and VCE Theatre Studies Unit 3 Stagecraft presentations were held in the Minnie and Solomon Fisher Drama Studio. The first part of the evening comprised of solo performances, written and developed by each student, based on the character of The Neighbour. Transformation of character, time and object was a key feature in each performance, which was executed most competently by the students.
This was followed by The Theatre Studies presentation of The Red Shoes, a play by Emma Rice and Anna Maria Murphy from Kneehigh Theatre (UK). This quirky, boundary-pushing play served as an appropriate vehicle for Year 12 students to develop and demonstrate their stagecraft and acting abilities, expressing themselves creatively by imbuing both the stage design and the characters with their own unique qualities. All performances were played to a full house and were received by a very appreciative audience!
