Year 3s Visit Shuls for a Fascinating Excursion

As part of their new Jewish Studies initiative, the Year 3 students have been learning a new portion of Torah each week. They have been exploring the significance of the Torah in Jewish tradition and the value of a name, particularly one’s Jewish name.

On Tuesday 13 August they had a fascinating excursion that brought their learning to life. They visited two shuls: The Sephardic Synagogue and the East Melbourne Synagogue.

The students were asked to take notice of all the important elements in the shuls, like the Sefer Torah and Aron Hakodesh. They paid particular interest to the differences and similarities between them, such as a wooden case versus a cloth covering of the Sefer Torah.
