On Wednesday 24 October, the Year 6s went on their annual excursion to the Arts precinct in Melbourne.
The students participated in a drama workshop and a Chunky Moves Dance lesson at the Malthouse. They were also fascinated by the backstage tours of the theatres at the Malthouse and at the Arts Centre, including Hamer Hall.
They were treated to orchestral rehearsals, sound checks, set building, a tour of the set factory where props and scenery are constructed and were told about the interesting history of the buildings and how the whole precinct came to be constructed.
The cohort went home with a greater understanding of the Arts and the hundreds of hours of preparation needed to put on a theatrical performance that runs for just a couple of hours.
