Bialik College is proud to celebrate Year 12 student Eden, who has been recognised with a 2025 Premier's VCE Award for excellence in Hebrew.

The Premier's VCE Awards recognise Victoria's highest-achieving VCE students across a range of studies, celebrating exceptional academic performance, dedication and commitment.

For Eden, the award represents far more than outstanding academic achievement. It reflects years of perseverance, a love of the Hebrew language and the support of the people who have encouraged her every step of the way.

A proud moment for the Bialik community

Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner attended the awards ceremony and said Eden's achievement is one the entire Bialik community celebrates.

"We are immensely proud of Eden for being recognised in the 2025 Premier's VCE Awards. These accolades are a testament not only to her academic excellence in Hebrew, but also to her commitment, resilience and the deep support of her family and teachers."

He added that Bialik College is committed to nurturing both academic excellence and personal character.

"At Bialik College, we nurture intellectual curiosity and personal integrity, values our students embody so strongly. Eden's achievement inspires our entire community, and it was a pleasure and an honour for me to witness the presentation of her award at the ceremony."

The power of language, culture and connection

Reflecting on receiving the award, Eden said she felt both honoured and grateful.

"It was incredibly rewarding to see all the hours and effort pay off, especially at a time when it's important that I feel proud to speak Hebrew openly and publicly."

She credits much of her success to the encouragement and guidance of her Hebrew teacher, Anat Tobias, and her grandmother in Israel.

"I most certainly could not have won it without Anat Tobias and her amazing support, as well as my grandmother in Israel, who spent countless hours on the phone, correcting me gently and making my Hebrew feel natural rather than just something I studied."

For Eden, Hebrew is more than a subject. It is a living connection to culture, family and identity.

Looking ahead

Eden is excited to continue strengthening her connection to Israel through Hebrew while pursuing her dream of studying medicine.

Her achievement reflects the values at the heart of a Bialik education: striving for excellence, embracing lifelong learning and developing meaningful connections to Jewish life, language and community.

Congratulations, Eden, on this outstanding achievement. Your dedication and passion are an inspiration, and we look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead.
