Early Learning Centre & Bialik Children's Centre (BCC, 0-3 years)

An award-winning start to education

What is the Bialik College Early Learning Centre?

Our Bialik Children's Centre (BCC, 0-3 years) and Early Learning Centre (ELC) for Kinder 3, Kinder 4, Prep and Year 1 programs in a modern, nurturing, and supportive environment. Our award-winning ELC received a rating exceeding all seven quality areas that are important outcomes for children as deemed by the National Quality Standards (NQS) who set the high national benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services in Australia. The Bialik College school motto is “Be Your Best” and we believe that early learning provides a crucial opportunity to nourish your child’s mind and soul.

Starting compulsory schooling should be enjoyable and we make sure the transition is as easy as possible by partnering with parents.

As a registered Long Day Care Centre, we know that parents play a crucial role in supporting their child in the areas of numeracy, literacy, and their child’s ongoing Jewish journey. Bialik College supports parents with workshops and information evenings led by educational experts, where they receive a raft of practical ideas, tips, and strategies to support their child’s early learning program.

FACILITIES

The Bialik College Early Learning Centre (ELC) is an innovative and nurturing centre which includes a Creche for children from 3 months and, in a separate building, rooms for 3-year old Kinder to Year 1. Before and After School Care and Holiday Programs are also based in the ELC.

LUNCH AND NUTRITION IN THE ELC DINING ROOM

Bialik ELC students enjoy their lessons in modern studio spaces which flow through to gardens and play areas. In those gardens, the children explore the concept of sustainability, planting and harvesting from the vegetable gardens. Importantly they then delight in seeing “their vegetables” used in the lunch menu. A modern kitchen prepares Kosher, fresh and nutritious lunches for Kinder children which they eat together in a bright and airy communal dining room.

OUR APPROACH TO LEARNING

Bialik’s ELC is inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational approach which encompasses:

  • Encourages the curiosity and resilience of young children,
  • Active listening,
  • Encouragement to be risk-takers,
  • To test theories,
  • To question,
  • Acquire sound basic skills in all areas including technology.

Children in the ELC benefit from a warm family environment that also provides:

  • A dedicated E-Learning Coordinator to guide the children’s and teacher’s use of technology
  • A designated Hebrew speaking educator to support each child in developing an awareness of who they are as active members of the Jewish and global community and with a strong connection to Israel
  • A wonderful ‘Centre for Hidden Treasures’ providing children and teachers with a rich source of materials to stimulate the imagination; and
  • Regular construction time for children in the ‘Loose Parts’ outdoor area so they can design and build with recycled materials.

WINDOWS INTO CHILDREN'S THINKING

Each year, Bialik College Early Learning Centre showcases the “Windows into Children’s Thinking” exhibition, which highlights the curiosity, theories and research of young children and their teachers. Read more.

Bialik Kinder

There are so many things that make Kinder at Bialik special.

Bialik College Kinder is a wonderful way to start your child’s schooling journey. We offer flexible options to fit in with your family, a proud ethos of inclusive Judaism, an award-winning ELC environment and a lovely community where our little students have big friends and family members in Years 10 and 11 who look out for them.

WHY CHOOSE BIALIK FOR KINDER?

Bialik College Kinder is a special, inclusive place where little minds and souls start their school and community journey and learn to grow together.

FULL AND PART-TIME KINDER OPTIONS

We understand that families want flexible options to fit within their busy work and family lifestyles. In 2022, we are giving families the option to choose between 3, 4 or 5 days for Kinder 3 and 4 or 5 days for Kinder 4.

JEWISH LEARNING

As a pluralistic Jewish school, we are proud of our ethos through which all mainstream strands of Judaism are embraced and taught with equivalence. In our Kinder, students learn about the chaggim and celebrate festivals such as Yom Ha’Atmaut and Purim with the rest of the school. Each Friday Kinder children make challah and join their classmates in a Kabbalat Shabbat.

NUTRITIOUS MENU CREATED AND COOKED BY FULL-TIME DIETITIAN

All meals and snacks are provided throughout the school day. The menu is nutritionally balanced and prepared by a Dietitian and cook, Ronit Novak. Long-day care children receive breakfast at the start of each day and all children sit together at meal times, setting the table, assisting with pack up and eating together.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Being a Creche – Year 12 school on the one-campus gives our Kinder children opportunities to learn from our older students. Our Kinder children have buddies in Years 10 and 11 and regularly catch up with scheduled play times, celebrate Shabbat together and the older students help the Kinder children in their classrooms. This family environment ensures our littlest students have older friends and family members looking out for them.
