Head of Hebrew (Secondary)
We are seeking to fill the role of Head of Hebrew (Secondary) who will be responsible for the ongoing management and development of the Hebrew Department. This role includes leading the continuous improvement of the Hebrew curriculum across the Secondary School, including MATACH, VCE and other Hebrew programs.
This is a full-time role commencing 2027.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Hebrew curriculum and Hebrew programs within the Secondary School.
- Will be required to teach classes (Year 6 - 12), leading VCE.
- In consultation with the Assistant Principal-Director of Jewish Life and Head of Secondary School, audit current levels of provision within the school and develop strategies for improvement.
- Manage, coach and develop Hebrew teaching staff in the Secondary school.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and major initiatives around learning a second language.
- Understand and disseminate good practice in Hebrew teaching and Hebrew learning.
- Promote Jewish culture through the language.
- Act as the ‘champion’ of Hebrew within the Secondary School by inspiring positive attitudes towards Hebrew which is kept at the heart of the school’s agenda for developing learning and teaching.

- Excellent administrative and organisational skills reflected in daily management and policy implementation.
- Innovative practices in an educational context and an ability to manage change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in working with students, staff, parents and external groups and agencies.
- Expertise in curriculum implementation and innovation.
- Demonstrated exemplary teaching practice and an ability to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
- Ability to successfully promote and enhance the public standing of the school.
- Willing to partake in personal professional development.
- Possesses experience in a similar role and leadership qualities and a proven record in school leadership.
- Possess and ability to promote the College within the community and public arena, and capable of devoting and willing to devote time to the ongoing life of the College.
- Highly qualified and experienced in Secondary education.
