Technical Support Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to provide technical support to the College to assist in the maintenance and installation of the College technology.

This is a full-time position, commencing in January 2026.

Primary Responsibilities

- Work with the Team to ensure high contact availability to staff and students to assist with Software application issues/hardware problems
- Install and troubleshoot operating systems and applications
- Log all faults/activities and provide support around basic network administration duties
- Manage and monitor the helpdesk system
- Ensure SLAs are met as per Technology Services charter
- Research/test new technologies/hardware/software/solutions
- Maintain the technology asset registers, assist in the maintenance of intranet/web sites and manage email spam filters.
- Use of management platforms such as Microsoft SCCM to manage computers, including installing software on computers and provide remote support
- Develop and maintain the college SOE (Standard Operating Environment) image using tools such as Microsoft MDT, SCCM, Intune.
- Respond to service calls; diagnose and correct equipment failure and malfunctions; repair or replace malfunctioning equipment including electronic switching units and circuit boards.
- Champion industry best practice regarding Cyber Security / Information Security. Understanding of Australian Essential 8, CIS and NIST frameworks.
- Support the school management system (Synergetic) to champion its use and operation
- Support the school learning management system (Compass) to ensure staff are utilising its potential.

Personal Skills and Experience

- A degree in Computer Science or Network Engineering
- Previous experience as a Computer Technician or related position and the required skills to maintain and repair computer equipment in a school environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure, SCCM
- Demonstrated interest in keeping abreast of new technologies
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills reflected in daily management and policy implementation
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to contribute to rectifying issues in the case of an unusual out-of-hours problem
- Proficient in Synergetic and SQL advantageous
- An ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks

- A demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
