Celebrating National Reconciliation Week at Bialik

Student News Thursday, 04 June 2026

Last week, Bialik proudly celebrated National Reconciliation Week through a vibrant program of learning, creativity and connection. Guided by this year's theme, All In, students across the College came together to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures while reflecting on the importance of respect, inclusion and reconciliation.

Throughout the week, students engaged with First Nations voices through a variety of meaningful experiences. They participated in yarning and knitting circles, listened to Indigenous speakers and enjoyed captivating performances by Indigenous dancers. These opportunities provided valuable insights into culture, storytelling and lived experience, encouraging students to learn from and connect with Australia's First Peoples.

The spirit of the week's theme was evident across the College as students contributed thoughtful messages to the All In with Respect Kind Words Jar. Filled with words of kindness, gratitude and encouragement, the jar became a powerful symbol of the respect and connection that National Reconciliation Week seeks to inspire. The messages were displayed during Friday lunchtime celebrations, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere for the school community to enjoy.

Students also embraced a range of lunchtime activities designed to promote learning and reflection. They worked together to complete First Nations artwork puzzles, contributed to a collaborative All In mural inspired by the National Reconciliation Week theme and explored First Nations stories through books and reading activities. Creative bookmark design sessions encouraged students to express their learning in artistic ways, while the Books2Screen experience featuring Little J & Big Cuz and the accompanying books helped bring First Nations stories to life.

National Reconciliation Week provided a meaningful opportunity for students to come together, celebrate culture and reflect on our shared journey towards reconciliation. Through learning, creativity and respectful dialogue, our community embraced the spirit of All In and strengthened its commitment to understanding, respect and connection.
