Phyics Excursion - The Australian Synchrotron
Wednesday, 23 Aug 2023
On Wednesday 23 August, Unit 3/4 physics students visited The Australian Synchrotron in Clayton, Melbourne. This major research facility produces beams of light much brighter than the sun, allowing detailed examination of materials at molecular and atomic levels. The students learned about its functioning and conducted experiments related to their physics curriculum, focusing on light diffraction, the photoelectric effect, and emission spectra of elements. The synchrotron's impact spans diverse fields including healthcare, energy, and cultural heritage.
